Dienten lies at the foot of the towering Hochkönig. It is a family resort full of stories just waiting to be discovered by visitors of all ages.
The secrets behind the legends of the Übergossenen Alm and the Lady in Blue and White are revealed on the Legends hiking trail along which mysterious stories from earlier times are uncovered.
With around 800 inhabitants the village itself is quiet and cosy – everything can be explored on foot or by bike.
340 km of well-maintained hiking trails stretch around this area including the majestic Königsweg trail which is 73 km long and part of the Via Alpina that goes from Trieste to Monaco.
The "Hut to Hut" trail, where panoramic views and the region's traditional cuisine can be enjoyed extensively, is particularly nice. The mountain pastures also take on a fairy-tale like appearance in winter when wrapped in a thick carpet of white. This tranquillity makes Dienten something of a hidden gem in the Hochkönig skiing region which, with 33 lifts and a perfectly connected network of slopes, is the second-largest connecting skiing area in the Alps.
