Sportgastein is the place where the sporty types are at home. With perfect snow conditions - powder, deep snow and firn - you can leave the pistes and start your skiing adventure in the freeride terrain.
Special tip: With the three marked ski routes Golden Powder, Golden Rush and Golden Ride, you can discover Gastein's sportiest ski area off-piste. After about 1,000 metres of altitude and powder fun or mogul slope dreams, you end up on the valley floor of Sportgastein. Deep snow as far as the eye can see!
Please pay attention to the warning signs and barriers!

Freeride Info Base
At the top station there is a freeride checkpoint where you can check the functionality of your avalanche transceiver and find out about the current avalanche level and all the relevant information before you go freeriding. In Sportgastein there is also a Pieps station and a Freeride Info Base.
Off-piste training
There is a large avalanche search field in the immediate vicinity of the Goldbergbahn valley station. Here, ski guests can train for an emergency with a guide. Guided off-piste tours are available at the annual X-Perience Day with the Freeride Gastein team and on request.
You get an incredible view of the surrounding mountains at 2,686 metres on the Kreuzkogel in Sportgastein. The Kreuzkogel summit cross is just a few metres from the Goldbergbahn mountain station, from where you can enjoy a fantastic view of the mountains. After the joint ascent (with guide), there is an incomparable breakfast in the glass-aluminium dome by architect Gerhard Gastenauer.
